1) Tutu by Ben Enwonwu
This art piece is regarded as Africa's Mona Lisa and it is a portrait of an Ife princess, Tutu made by Ben Enwonwu, a master of the Arts. The Tutu painting rose to fame again more recently when the original was discovered in a London home, decades after it was declared missing.
2) Ankara Na-Nma by Clement Mmaduako Nwafor
This painting of a little girl with an Ankara head tie was made by Clement Mmaduako Nwafor, a self-taught painter. The talented artist is famous for his portrait paintings of women and how he usually incorporates pieces of fabric to make collages.
3) Adam and Eve by Aina Onabolu
Painted in 1954 by Aina Onabolu, this iconic art piece grew to become one of the images of new craftsmanship in Nigeria. Born in Ijebu-Ode in 1882, Aina Onabolu was the first Western-trained portrait artist in Nigeria who also pioneered art education in the country.
4) There Was A Time by Patrick Akpojoto
Patrick Akpojoto, a young contemporary artist made paintings and drawings featuring real-life elements made up of irregular shapes and dimensions that are amazing to look at.
One of his popular pieces - There Was A Time is a painting that merges together visual elements such as bricks, nails, benches etc and imagined spaces to create an abstract composition that on closer look shows you a man, hunched over and writing.
5) Motion In Blue by Sam Ebohon
Painted in 2015, Motion In Blue has clear tones and a creative style that Sam Ebohon became popular for. Ebohon in this painting, just like his other unique pieces, uses kinetic brushwork to create this blurry effect that does not only reveal the beauty of each piece, it also veils it in some sort of way.
