Time Magazine honoured the Grammy Award-winning Nigerian musician, Temilade ‘Tems’ Openiyi, recognising her as one of those who "have achieved peak influence in their fields."

For the gala, she adorned a $8,000 Danielle Frankel princess-style ivory gown on the red carpet. The gown featured a fitted bodice, gathered at the waist, and sweeping the floor. Its remarkable versatility, easily repurposed as a wedding gown, fascinated me. Even her hairstyle and makeup exuded 'Bride' vibes.

Her hair, in a chic updo, showcased her natural curls. She opted for simple and subtle makeup, consistent with her style. The winged eyeliner and glossy lips were simple yet gorgeous.

Other notable figures, like Tyler James Williams from Abbott Elementary, Gayle King from Good Morning America, and football sensation Jalen Hurts, were at the gala.

RnB legend Mary J. Blige, a 2022 Time100 honoree, composed a passage to commemorate Tems’ selection.

“Tems is in a class all by herself because no other artist sounds like her. That voice is so unique and original, reminiscent of the first time I heard Nina Simone. They both sing with emotion and conviction, making you feel every word they sing. When Tems and I finally had a chance to meet last year at the Grammy Awards, we just exploded on each other, giving each other so much love. I know she will make it far because she’s a talented writer, singer, and producer—my only hope for her is that she becomes one of the biggest artists of her time.”

Numerous videos and pictures of Tems at the event flooded the internet; undoubtedly, she was the belle of the ball.
