The Skilled Award of the year has traversed various universities, recognising and celebrating extraordinary talents, and Bowen University was honoured to host this prestigious and the much-anticipated Skilled Student Award event on the 23 March, 2024.

The event commenced with a vibrant red-carpet reception. From 12 pm to 6 pm, the campus was buzzing with excitement as students showcased their remarkable talents and achievements.

The occasion, held to honour students and their remarkable achievements, showcased a myriad of talents ranging from spoken word performances to mesmerising dance routines, captivating artists, and mind-bending magic acts by the Bowen creative hub.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards, recognising outstanding individuals in various categories. Malomo Ibukunoluwa was crowned Comedian of the Year, while Ogunniran Miriam clinched the title of Dancer of the Year. Joshua Opaleke was honoured as Tech Savvy of the Year, and Akinleye Adesewa was named Model of the Year.

Other notable awardees included; Tobalesi Mosope for Actor of the Year, Oginni Itunu for Athlete of the Year, and Achom Praise for Writer of the Year. Alexis Nnaji was recognised as Influencer of the Year, while Ebri Anita emerged as Entrepreneur of the Year. Ireoluwa Ogunfowokan, Okiki Obafemi, and Ezenwa Silver were celebrated as Graphic Designer, Videographer, and Photographer of the Year respectively.

Adio Imoleayo was awarded Host of the Year, and Toluwanu Alonge was honoured as Fashion Designer of the Year. Tsuzon Majesty's musical prowess earned him the title of Musician of the Year, while Tolani Mosope was crowned Skilled Student of the Year, recognising his exceptional talents and contributions.

The event was generously sponsored by esteemed organisations such as; Colgate, Monster Energy, Footwox, Xpose, Inside Bowen, The Campus Giant, Vorem, Pulse Nigeria, Benjamin Dada, Trace TV, Zeerealtyhq, Selar, Soundclaz, and Pennywise. The event was therefore organised by Touchpoint event agency. This event was a success, thanks to the commitment and dedication of the Skilled Students Award team; Adesokan Adesayo (General secretary & tech lead), Omonjade Mercy (Financial Secretary), Aransiola Oluwaferanmi (Design Director), Amun Godspower (video director), Udechukwu Joshua (Event Manger), Ore Issac (Asst. Design Director), Bernice Ayomide Aileru (Director of Marketing and Sponsorships) , Omonjade Godsfavour (chairman skilled awards).

As a component of the giveaways, a parcel of land was awarded, along with a $3000 scholarship courtesy of Vorem. Footwox provided financial assistance and branded items to students at no cost. Certain students were chosen to represent Selar, receiving various giveaways and cash prizes, heightening the excitement of the event.

Bowen University's Skilled Student Award event not only celebrated the exceptional talents and achievements of its students but also fostered a sense of unity and pride among the campus community.

As the curtains drew to a close on this memorable day, it was evident that Bowen University stands as a beacon of talent and creativity, nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators.
