Manicured nails decorate our hands, give us self-confidence and express style, which is why it is so important that they are beautiful and well-groomed.

Unfortunately, everyday life is not always conducive to keeping them in perfect condition. What to do when nails are brittle and weakened? We show you how to strengthen them in a few simple steps.

Why your nails might become weakened?

Painted or natural, short or long - their condition should always be important to us. Unfortunately, weakened nails are a problem that many of us struggle with.

We may not always realise it, but their poor condition does not come out of nowhere, so before we start the treatment, it is worth looking for the causes of the problem and trying to minimise them. These are among others:

· Improper diet – lack of appropriate nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals, may affect the condition of our nails.

· Contact with detergents - daily cleaning, laundry or washing dishes without protective gloves exposes our nails to contact with aggressive substances.

· Wetting your hands too often - long-term moisture weakens the structure of your nails, which leads to their brittleness.

· Excessive stress : Yes, stress can also affect our nails. Stress hormones can lead to weakened and brittle nails.

How to strengthen your nails from the inside?

Well, diet... The old proverb "you are what you eat" also applies to our nails, so we should start regeneration by taking a look at our menu. What should be on our menu to support the health of nails and cuticles around them?

· Protein , which is their building block. You will find them in meat, fish, eggs, legumes and nuts.

· Biotin , a B vitamin. Its sources are eggs, almonds, avocado and whole grain products.

· Iron , a deficiency of which can lead to brittle nails. Include red meat, spinach, lentils and tofu in your diet.

· Zinc , supporting their growth and regeneration. You can find it in seafood, pumpkin seeds and dairy products.

· Vitamin E , which will help keep your nails healthy, so be sure to include nuts, seeds and green leafy vegetables in your diet.
