So you want to start your makeup routine well, you need to know the right procedure. If you don’t apply your makeup in the correct order it will not be effective and it could irritate your skin.

The general rule is to apply lighter ingredients first before the thicker ones.

So what are the steps;

1. Cleanse

Before you start applying anything on your face, it has to be sparkling clean and free of oil and dirt. 

2. Toner

Do not get an alcoholic based toner but a hydrating one. The concept of toner is a primer that will allow other ingredients get absorbed easily.

3. Serums

Serums are oil-based moisturizers to protect your skin and they should come next after a toner. 

Serums should be applied in tapping motions with your fingertips or palms. Serums should not be applied excessively. Allow it to sip into the skin by itself.

4. Eye Cream

Eye cream is optional but in case you are applying eye cream, apply it before a moisturizer.

5. If you have any spot creams, use them

If you have any special cream for spots or blemishes, this would be a good time to apply.

6. Moisturizer

A moisturizer is an essential part of your skincare routine. If you do not have anything here, you need a moisturizer to hydrate your skin.

7. Retinoids

Retinol cream is a variation of Vitamin A and it makes your skin smoother and wrinkle free apply your retinol cream next.

8. Oils

If you use jojoba or coconut oil apply it last, it doesn’t penetrate your skin easily.

9. Sunscreen

unscreen needs to be applied last so it sits on your skin. It needs to sit on your skin to protect it.
