Fallen tanker turns into free for all

The residents of Akure experienced some drama after a petrol tanker fell and spilled its contents along the road that connects Arakale to Oba Adesida market.

A petrol tanker which fell in the process of negotiating a turn has turned to a free for all struggle as the residents of Akure were sighted scooping up the spilled contents.

The Incident reportedly took place on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Isinkan Roundabout in Akure.

The 33, 000 litre tanker was reportedly on its way to supply an NNPC petrol station in Akure when the accident occurred.

Officers of the Fire Service reportedly arrived early on the scene and managed to bring the situation under control.

Eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters that the accident occurred at about 7 am.

According to another eyewitness, Blessing Olowolawi, the driver of the tanker fled the scene immediately after the accident occurred.

The accident resulted in massive gridlock on the road that connects Arakale to Oba Adesida market.

“Vehicular movement was impeded immediately after the incident. And many residents used the opportunity to steal fuel from the truck,” she said.

The Ondo State Police Command reportedly monitored the situation in order to prevent a breach of law and order.
