Legendary music artist Lionel Richie will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the forthcoming BET Awards on June 29, 2014 in Los Angeles.
The network announced the big news yesterday on their social network accounts posting;
"Ladies & Gens, We're pleased to announced Lionel Richie as the 2014 BET Awards Lifetime Achievement recipient."
Meanwhile Richie took to Instagram last night expressing how huge the honour is and how much he appreciates the accolade:
"Regram from @BETawards! I am so honored!"
Lionel Richie's music career spans above 20 years and he's been consistent and extremely talented and influential in the rise of big songs and artists in America. He's won countless awards including an Oscar and a Golden Globe awards for Original Song - Say You (Say Me) - in 1985.He also used his great writing skills to co-write with Michael Jackson in We Are The World, produced by Quincy Jones in 1983-1985.
After vanishing for so long, Richie returned in 2006 with the Coming Home album and dropped the single "I Call It Love" which reached No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart in 2006.
