Rema's 'Calm Down' sets new record for highest charting African song on Billboard Hot 100

Afrobeats is becoming the biggest genre in the world and Nigerian superstars are driving the exportation of African music to a global audience.

After breaking the African Billboard Hot 100 peak record with a NO. 7 position, Rema's has now set a new record as his hit remix with Selena Gomez has now reached a new peak position of NO. 6.

In the chart week of April 22, 2023, Rema's 'Calm Down' moved up one spot from its previous peak of NO. 7 to a new peak of NO. 6 while extending its stay on the chart to 32 weeks.

Since its release in February 2022, 'Calm Down' would go on to achieve huge international success which was consolidated with the release of the Selena Gomez-assisted remix which earned Rema his debut on Billboard Hot 100.

The song received an RIAA platinum plaque before going on to set the African charting record on Billboard Hot 100.

'Calm Down' is set to surpass over 2 billion across all platforms. It's also the most watched Afrobeats music video on YouTube as it surpasses the previous record set by CKay's 'Love Nwantiti'.

With its historic rise on the chart, fans would be eager to see if Rema's 'Calm Down' can break into the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100.
