Horror title The Origin: Madam Koi Koi has landed an official release date on Netflix.

This announcement debunks the earlier news that the two-part film would be heading to Nigerian cinemas first and pushes its release to a much closer date.

The upcoming title delves into the legendary myth of a dead woman's spirit known as Madam Koi Koi, who is believed to luck around the halls of boarding schools. This mysterious and scary tale is one that has been passed from generation to generation in the Nigerian secondary school system.

Written by Jay Franklyn Jituboh and Dale FalolaThe Origin tells the story of a dark spirit reawakens after being forgotten for decades to seek vengeance and now the community must pay the ultimate price.

Puzzled by the deaths of three people in the town, two inspectors played by Deyemi Okanlawon and Baaj Adebule, go out to seek answers and soon get mixed up in the drama.

The Origin is set between multiple timelines between 1971 and 1991 as it takes its audience back in time to what is believed as the roots of the boarding school tale today.

Directed by Jituboh and co-produced by Jituboh and Michael W. Ndiomu, the cast includes Ireti Doyle who plays the school administrator, Chioma Akpotha as a catholic nun, Chukwuka JudeMartha EhinomeNene AliemekeTolulope OdebunmiOmowunmi DadaEjiro OnojaifeChuks JosephKevin T. SolomonTemidayo AkinboroIremide Adeoye and Racheal Emem Issac.

Principal photography handled by Idowu Adedapo and Amarachukwu Udoezika wrapped up the city of Abeokuta, sometime in 2022.

This intriguing Madam Koi Koi story which is a two-part film as opposed to a series is set to start streaming on Netflix on October 31, 2023.
