19-Year-Old Student Wins KIA Picanto, Recording Deal In 'Airtel One Mic’ Talent Show

Omoniyi is on his way to the top after emerging winner of 'Airtel One Mic’ Talent Show

Next time you see Temidayo Omoniyi, a student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, he might be cruising in his brand new KIA Picanto car.

Perhaps he would tell you he is on his way to meet ID Cabasa - yes, the veteran Music producer and CEO of Coded Tunes, to record a song.

It would not be strange to also notice that he is looking different, dressed in some expensive outfit - the upgraded look..

All this is possible… because the 19-year-old has just emerged winner of One Mic Campus Tour, after wowing the audience and judges at the grand finale of the talent show which went down at the OK Centre, Ibara GRA, Abeokuta

Omoniyi, aka Zlatan Ibile, beat five other finalists to cart secure the dream of any up-and-coming artiste; a KIA Picanto car, a recording deal with ID Cabasa's Coded Tunes complete with a full artiste makeover - courtesy of the sponsor, telecom service provide Airtel Nigeria.

The victory did not come easy for Zlatan Ibile who had to gruel it out with the other contestant for two hours

He finally won the judges' nod - a panel which included ID Cabasa; rapper and singer, Reminisce, and DJ Jamalot.

It was an elated Omoniyi who handle the mic after he was announced winner.

“I am overwhelmed with joy today for emerging winner of the talent hunt; I thank Airtel Nigeria for this initiative. It is an encouragement to me that I can rise to the peak of my music career. I am very grateful to Airtel,” he said.

Speaking at the event, Airtel's Regional Operations Director, Lagos, Femi Oshinlaja, congratulated Omoniyi for his deserved win.

Oshinlaja expressed Airtel's commitment to continue supporting youths in Nigeria.

“Airtel Nigeria is proud to create a unique platform for Nigerian youths to showcase the abundant talents which this country is blessed with.

"The Airtel One Mic is a testimony to our quest to discover and support raw talent and also support them to achieve their aspirations.”

The 'One Mic Campus Tour' kicked off on May 5, 2014, in Ogun state, attracting a large audience of tertiary students.
