FUL dismisses 13 final year students over leakage of exam paper

One of the students is on the verged if graduating with first class when the university dismissed him with 12 others.

One of the students reportedly has a first class Cumulative Grade Point Average, CGPA. The student is said to be on the verge of bagging a first class with a cumulative grade point of 5.0.

According to Punch, the students, all of who are in the Departments of Economics allegedly bought the examination paper from a driver who worked in the department.

Dismissed students urged go to court

The Vice-Chancellor of the University,  Prof. Angela Freeman Miri, while announcing the dismissal of the students at a press conference on Monday, June 1, 2018, said the university gave the dismissed student the opportunity to appeal if they are not satisfied with the University Senate's decision.

The VC said: “No university that is worth its salt will compromise its examination standards; and the Federal University, Lokoja, will not be an exemption,”

“The affected students were invited by the committee for questioning and the investigation committee found them guilty and then recommended them for expulsion,”

The VC added that the university had done proper investigations before taking a decision to expel the students.
