Authorities of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP) Bauchi, have announced the schools plan to waive tuition for any physically challenged person, who is willing to study in the institution.
The Rector of the state-owned Polytechnic, Dr Suleiman Lame made this known on Sunday, March 25, 2018, while addressing newsmen.
Lame said the gesture was aimed at encouraging and empowering the persons with disabilities, adding that giving them education would enable them to become relevant to the larger society.
Apart from people with disabilities, Lame also said the Polytechnic management is offering free tuition to any student, who wants to study Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the school.
“Aside the persons with disabilities, any other students willing to study Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the polytechnic can also enrol free.
“This is to motivate the basic science students,” he said
The Rector said the management introduced the policy because Bauchi state is facing a shortage of science teachers.
Landmark University offers free education Agric students
In a similar development, the founder and Chancellor of Landmark University, Omu Aran. Bishop David Oyedepo reportedly instructed the university management to remove tuition for all Agricultural Science programs in the institution.
The university also stated that all agricultural courses in the university, such as Crop Science, Animal Science, Agric Extension & Rural Development, Agric Economics, Agribusiness Management, Environmental & Natural Resource Economics, Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, Tourism and Recreation, Horticulture and Landscape management will now be run free of charge.
