Contemporary artist Victor Ekpuk is set to hold Artist Talk this October. The Nigerian-born contemporary artist based in Washington, DC came to prominence through his paintings and drawings which reflect indigenous African philosophies of the Nsibidi and uli art forms.

Ekpuk reimagines graphic symbols from diverse cultures to form a personal style of mark making that results in the interplay of art and writing.

His work frequently explores the human condition in society, drawing upon a wide spectrum of meaning that is rooted in African and global contemporary art discourses. Victor Ekpuk is currently completing a four-month residency with the Arthouse Foundation.

Popular Lagos Fuji musician Dr Adewale Ayuba recently celebrated clocking 50-years over the weekend in a lavish party in Lekki.

The Ogun State artiste is married to his darling Igbo wife from Onitsha, Anambra State Azukaego Ayuba, the pair have been together for 26 years.

Ayuba's birthday party was a double celebration as his first daughter with wife Azuka; Adetutu Natash as she turned 13.

Mrs Ayuba who has spent her entire life abroad spoke in an interview with City People Magazine about how she fought tooth and nail to marry her husband because she was an Igbo Christian and him a Yoruba Muslim.

"My parents accepting my husband was a big issue. The issue was more than he is a Yoruba man snf to crown it all, a musician. It took a while for them to accept him, hey also saw that he was a Muslim who could marry more than one wife and being a FUji artist will make him do the worst."

"They also believed then that even as he is eductaed, this will not change anything about him. My parents lived in Onitsha and they have all their businesses therr. I prayed and after much contemplation they accepted. Popular Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie has been married for a little more than 3 years and she believes that her being a celebrity actress will not hinder her from having a successful marriage.

In an interview with Leadership Nigeria on March 29, 2015 she opens up about building a strong foundation for her marriage to last on.

Mercy Johnson began by dispelling the notion that actresses don't make good wives.

If you want to enjoy real beauty and power of love, don’t be so busy proving each other right/wrong.We helped each other cure from all negative feelings we carried from the past, we got mature enough to understand that love is really drama-free and selfless and it must be based on unconditional trust. We don’t hide phones from each other, we don’t spy on each other. He is making me feel so confident, like there is nothing I can’t do"

Being an expectant mother, how do you feel?

"Excitement! It’s quite magical to have another human being growing inside of you that is half you and half the person you love. When the doctor announced i was pregnant I had a panic attack for a minute, although we saw it coming. It’s all natural."

When are you likely to walk down the aisle with IK?

"I was never the type of girl desperate to get married. Even though my opinion about this changed since I met a man I want to spend my life with, I still prefer to have one intimate, personal ceremony, at the place that makes me happy with people that truly care. When? It might have already happened, but how would you know?"

Have you been rocking our African prints and how different do you feel wearing them?

"Ankara, yeah? I love it. It’s so colourful, feminine and it gives you space to express your creativity when it comes to designs. It could be very elegant, traditional or quite casual and modern. I need to sew some more."
