<p><strong>Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has been handed a lengthy six-month suspension from the Senate.</strong></p>

<p>The Kogi Central lawmaker stood accused of a total violation of Senate rules following her outburst against Senate President, Godswill Akpabio last month.</p>

<p>The pair clashed after Akpabio ordered her suspension over her objection to a change in seating arrangement.</p>

<p>They engaged in a shouting match after the Kogi Central lawmaker discovered that her seat had been changed without her consent.</p>

<p>She subsequently accused Akpabio of bullying her because she turned down his sexual advances.</p>

<p>Following an investigation by the Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct, it recommended that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan be suspended with immediate effect for six months.</p>

<p>Chairman of the committee, Senator Neda Imaseun, disclosed its recommendations during Thursday's plenary session.</p>

<p>The committee also recommended that Senator Natasha's office be under lock and key pending the completion of her suspension.</p>

<p>Also recommended was the barring of Senator Natasha from the National Assembly's premises alongside the cessation of her and her legislative aides salaries.</p>

<p>Senator Natasha will also be prohibited from representing the nation in any official capacity pending the completion of her suspension.</p>

<p>Senator Imasuen added that the Senate may review Senator Natasha's suspension if she tenders a written apology.</p>

<p>However, Senator Natasha's suspension was upheld by Senate President Godswill Akpabio following a voice vote.</p>

<p><strong>Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan submitted a sexual harassment petition against Senate President, Godswill Akpabio before the upper chambers. </strong></p>

<p>Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan reiterated recent allegations she made during a television interview in the petition.</p>

<p>Akpabio accepted the petition against himself, and directed it to the <mark style="color: rgb(22, 22, 22); background-color: inherit;" class="pen">committee on code of conduct, ethics and public petitions. He urged that it be treated in a timely manner. </mark></p>

<p>Meanwhile, <mark style="color: rgb(22, 22, 22); background-color: inherit;" class="pen">Mohammed Tahir Monguno, chief whip of the senate, objected against the submission arguing that the harassment case is already in court, and as such cannot be treated in the senate.</mark></p>

<p><mark style="color: rgb(22, 22, 22); background-color: inherit;" class="pen">Quoting order 40, rule 7, he said </mark></p>

<p>Rejecting Senator's Monguno's objection, Senator Akpoti argued that the matter in court was separate from the sexual allegation claims. She said</p>

<p>Another objection arose from Senate Majority Leader, <mark style="color: rgb(22, 22, 22); background-color: inherit;" class="pen">Opeyemi Bamidele who described the petition as "defective". </mark></p>

<p>A brief chaos ensued after which Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan staged a walkout.</p>

<p>Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan earlier accused the Senate leader of <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/news/akpabio-sexual-advances-allegation-natasha-2025022811002795826"><strong>propositioning her during a visit to his country home </strong></a>in Akwa Ibom state.</p>

<p>Breaking his silence on the allegations during a plenary sitting on Wednesday, Akpabio said he has never harassed Senator Natasha or any other woman sexually.</p>

<p>Akpabio said he was raised by a struggling single mother, and as such holds women in the highest esteem. </p>

<p>He added that he has four beautiful daughters, and he wouldn't want to perpetrate any untoward acts against their gender.</p>

<p>Akpabio thanked his fellow senators for their calls of support and prayer, adding that God Almighty will step in "to vindicate the just".</p>

<p>Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio's issues came to light after the Senate leader ordered her suspension over seating arrangement. </p>

<p>The pair engaged in a shouting match after the Kogi Central lawmaker discovered that her seat had been changed without her consent.</p>

<p>During a television interview last week, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that Akpabio was punishing her for refusing his advances. </p>

<p>According to her, while showing her around his home, Akpabio allegedly suggested they could <i>"spend quality time together"</i> and that she would <i>"enjoy it."</i></p>

<p><strong>Ousted speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, </strong><a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/search-results?keywords=Obasa"><strong>Mudashiru Obasa</strong></a><strong> has been reinstated.</strong></p>

<p>Obasa was sworn in on Monday, shortly after the <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/news/breaking-meranda-resigns-as-speaker-of-the-lagos-house-of-assembly-2025030315041898731"><strong>resignation of his successor, Mojisola Meranda</strong></a>.</p>

<p>Obasa was impeached on <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/news/civilian-coup-how-obasa-was-impeached-while-away-in-united-states-2025011408401525111"><strong>grounds of alleged misappropriation in January 2025</strong></a>. 90% of the Assembly lawmakers supported his impeachment.</p>

<p>The newly reinstated speaker had described his impeachment as illegal and subsequently filed a motion at the Ikeja Division of the Lagos State High Court, against Meranda challenging the legality of his removal.</p>

<p>Last week, he returned to the Assembly complex where he declared himself speaker. </p>

<p>“I have always said that I have never been removed from office. I am not against any removal,” Obasa said on his return. </p>

<p style="text-align: start">“If you are going to do that, you must follow the rules of the House. It is constitutional to impeach and remove. You have to follow the dictates of the Constitution.”</p>

<p>Obasa's reinstatement occurs after the APC leadership asked Meranda to step down. </p>

<p>Upon his reinstatement, Obasa thanked the party's leadership including former governors - Bisi Akande and Olusegun Osoba. </p>

<p>Obasa was elected into the Lagos Assembly in 2007 and emerged as speaker in 2015.</p>

<p>Meranda's security details entitled to her as speaker were subsequently removed. Conversely, Obasa's security details were restored. </p>

<p>Meranda's reign as the <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/news/breaking-lagos-assembly-swears-in-first-female-speaker-mojisola-meranda-2025011314151030885"><strong>first female speaker of the Lagos Assembly</strong></a> lasted just 49 days.</p>

<p>In her resignation speech, Meranda noted that the party's decision is "supreme" and she is acceding to "avoid further unnecessary conflict and embarrassment." </p>

<p><strong>Ousted speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Hon Mudashiru Obasa is set to return.&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>According to Daily Trust, the 52-year-old has had security details due to him as speaker restored, conversely, the <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/news/assembly-naked-and-vulnerable-as-merandas-security-details-withdrawn-aide-2025022711523053536"><strong>current speaker Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, has had hers withdrawn</strong></a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meranda was reportedly “unofficially” ousted from the Speaker’s seat during a meeting held by All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Present at the crisis management meeting were Former National Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande; former Governor of Osun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba; former Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Muiz Banire; members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) among others.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meranda was reportedly asked to vacate her seat for Obasa at the meeting.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It is widely believed that Obasa might return as the Speaker soon.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Former Kaduna state governor, Nasir El Rufai says President Tinubu, and not the National Assembly, rejected him as a minister.&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>Mallam el-Rufai disclosed this during an interview with Arise TV on Monday, wherein he rubbished speculation that he was rejected by the national assembly.</p>

<p>On Sunday, Governor Adeleke accused predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola of planning to destabilize the state.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Adeleke claimed Oyetola is using his status as President Tinubu&rsquo;s nephew to foment chaos in the state.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The governor accused the minister of working in cahoots with the Osun state Commissioner of Police, the Osun state Director of DSS and the State Commandant of the Civil Defense Corps.</p>

<p>The governor called on President Tinubu to intervene in the matter while also asking the Nigerian public to hold Oyetola responsible for any breakdown of law and order in Osun state in the near future.</p>

<p><strong>Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke has accused predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola of planning to destabilize the state.&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>Oyetola who lost the 2022 guber polls to Adeleke is currently the nation&rsquo;s minister of marine and blue economy.</p>

<p>In a world press conference on Sunday, Adeleke accused Oyetola of attempting to influence the return to office of sacked council chairmen.</p>

<p>Gov. Adeleke also expressed his belief that President Tinubu, whom he described as &ldquo;a lover of rule of law&rdquo;, is unaware of his nephew&rsquo;s moves.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A section of Governor Adeleke&rsquo;s press conference read thus,</p>

<blockquote><p>I called this press conference to alert the national and global audience about a deliberate plot to create chaos and anarchy in Osun state. I invite you all to expose a fascist anti-democratic agenda designed to enforce a non-existing court judgment on our local governments. This evil plot is being spearheaded by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy,&nbsp; Mr Gboyega Oyetola in active collaboration with the Osun state Commissioner of Police, the Osun state Director of DSS and the State Commandant of the Civil Defense Corps.&nbsp;<br><br>Before I continue this address, let me affirm that I know Mr. President to be a true democrat, a lover of rule of law, and a believer in the sanctity of the judicial process. I know, as a matter of fact, that Mr. President will never authorise a dictatorial violation of the constitution irrespective of who is involved. It is crucial to add that Mr. President will never support any action that is capable of generating bloodbath and bloodshed.<br><br>I, however, regret to inform Mr. President and the public that Mr Gboyega Oyetola has concluded an arrangement to cause mayhem in Osun state starting from Monday. He is issuing illegal directives to security operatives to enforce illegality simply because he is the nephew of Mr. President. I chose to alert the nation before my people are killed or maimed by a minister&nbsp; dropping the name of Mr. President in connivance with the Osun state security operatives obeying unlawful orders.<br><br>The bone of contention is the brazen effrontery to return to office council chairmen sacked&nbsp; by a subsisting court Judgment using a different court decision, which has no consequential order.</p></blockquote>

<p>Adeleke urged Tinubu to direct Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser (NSA), and Lateef Fagbemi, attorney general of the federation (AGF), to verify the court order regarding the LG council.</p>

<p>The governor called on President Tinubu to intervene in the matter while also asking the Nigerian public to hold Oyetola responsible for any breakdown of law and order in Osun state in the near future. </p>

Adeleke says Oyetola is using his influence as President Tinubu's nephew to foment chaos in the state.

<p>Mrs Idibia made this call 24 hours after her son proposed to <a target="_self" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/lifestyle/the-biography-of-natasha-osawaru-2025021211101964509"><strong>Natasha Osawaru</strong></a>, an Edo state lawmaker.</p>

<p>On Wednesday, 2Baba real name Innocent Idibia <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/news/2baba-proposes-to-girlfriend-natasha-osawaru-weeks-after-announcing-divorce-2025021306522461254"><strong>made headlines after proposing to Osawaru</strong></a> weeks after announcing his divorce from estranged wife, Annie.</p>

<p>According to the singer's mother, he is not "in his right senses" at the moment. </p>

<p>In a trending video that surfaced on social media, she argued that his ongoing divorce from Annie has affected his mental health and wellbeing.</p>

<p>Mrs Idibia subsequently called on all "mothers" to beg Natasha to "free" her son. </p>

<p>On Tuesday, 2Baba expressed his desire to marry the 31-year-old lawmaker, weeks after <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/entertainment/celebrities/breaking-2baba-annie-idibia-separated-file-for-divorce-2025012620054898654"><strong>announcing his divorce from estranged wife, Annie Idibia.</strong></a></p>

<p>In a video that surfaced online, the singer described Natasha as a "young, brilliant and amazing young woman" whom he was keen on marrying.</p>

<p>Controversial musician, Darlington Achakpo, popularly known as Speed Darlington has regained his freedom after almost two months in Kuje prison.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Darlington’s freedom comes days after he was admitted to a <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/news/court-grants-speed-darlington-naira20m-bail-in-cybercrime-case-filed-by-burna-boy-2025011512110181984"><strong>twenty million naira (20,000,000) bail last Wednesday by a federal high court in Abuja.&nbsp;</strong></a></p>

<p>The singer’s lawyer, Stan Alieke confirmed his release, sharing photos with Darlington on Instagram.&nbsp; Alieke said Darlington’s legal representatives will be seeking redress against the Nigerian police following their client’s “illegal incarceration”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Darlington was <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/entertainment/celebrities/breaking-police-arrest-speed-darlington-again-during-owerri-show-2024112709515253576"><strong>re-arrested on November 27, 2024, while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State</strong></a>.&nbsp;The ‘Bangdadang’ crooner was accused of cyberstalking Grammy award-winning musician, Burna Boy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Darlington was initially arrested by police in October 2024 after Burna Boy filed a petition against him with the police.</p>

<p>Burna’s petition followed Darlington’s suggestive comments about the “Ye” singer’s affiliation with embattled hip-hop mogul, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.</p>

<p>The singer will return to court on March 18 for trial on cybercrime charges.</p>

<p><strong>Late Mohbad’s mother, Abosede engaged in a verbal altercation with </strong><a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/search-results?keywords=Fabiyi"><strong>Yomi Fabiyi</strong></a><strong>, the Nollywood actor, during a press conference on Wednesday.&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>Fabiyi, under the umbrella of his Break the Silence foundation, organized a ‘World Press Conference’ tagged “Justice for Mohbad 2025”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During the presser, Fabiyi claimed that <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/entertainment/celebrities/mohbads-brother-requested-naira3million-for-incriminating-video-actor-yomi-fabiyi-2025011612115414517">Mohbad’s junior brother Adura demanded Three Million naira (N3,000,000) for information pertaining to the singer’s death.&nbsp;</a></p>

<p>Countering Fabiyi’s claims, Abosede questioned his intentions during an impassioned altercation.&nbsp;Defending her younger son’s honour, she dismissed Fabiyi’s claims as false.&nbsp;She said,</p>

<blockquote><p>Adura is not the one who messaged you about knowing the cause of Mohbad’s death. Adura sold his phone to Damola because he did not have money. It was Damola that messaged him and it is publicly known. I confronted the boy, and he confessed and also apologised,</p></blockquote>

<blockquote><p>The first time you came out publicly about your intention to help seek justice I was happy but later I felt you also wanted to kill Adura, my son.<br><br>You said he was the one who messaged you, it is publicly known he wasn’t but you went ahead to organise a conference. Do you want to tarnish his image?<br><br>If Adura truly knew the cause of his brother’s death, he would have joined him. If we do not know the cause, I will not mourn over my surviving children.</p></blockquote>

<p>Responding, Fabiyi denied that he intentionally maligned Adura.</p>

<p>Dotun disclosed this in a series of tweets on X empathizing with his fellow OAPs.&nbsp; </p>
