This was in response to a letter the executive sent to the State Assembly in May 2022 asking for the House's consent to rename the university to&nbsp;Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil.&nbsp;

The Speaker, Hamisu Chidari, presided over a plenary session where the House debated and approved the institution's renaming.

Labaran Madari, the majority leader of the House, revealed to reporters shortly after plenary that the legislators supported the state government's move because of Alhaji Aliko Dangote's significant contribution to the growth of education in the state.

Recall that the state government approved the university's renaming in May 2022 following a recommendation from the university's visitation panel. At the time, Muhammad Garba, the Kano State Commissioner for Information, had released a statement on the matter.&nbsp;

But he emphasized that the State Assembly had received the consent and was now in charge of taking the appropriate legislative steps.

In accordance with the university's gazette legislation, the institution's name was changed to Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil in 2005 from Kano University of Technology when it was founded in 2001.&nbsp;

Senator Ibrahim Shekaru, the previous governor of Kano State, appointed Aliko Dangote as the university's chancellor in 2008. In November 2021, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the current governor, reappointed Dangote. KUST is now known as the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology.

But the truth of the matter is that there are two dominant parties in this country – APC and PDP. If you want to become President, I think you must belong to one of them.”

“The issue is at any point in time, Nigerians are not looking for lofty ideas, Nigerians are looking for solutions to the problems and maladies of this country in the area of economy, in the area of security,&nbsp;in the area of infrastructure, in the area of poverty alleviation.”

The Olam farm, which is located on a plot of land measuring 12 by 7 kilometers, has made significant contributions to the country's drive to produce enough rice.&nbsp;

Since the company's crops and infrastructure were severely damaged by the flood, Olam Nigeria Limited has predicted that rice prices would increase by December.

Vice-president of Olam Nigeria Limited, Ade Adefeko stated that the incident had a negative impact on the company's $20 million investment and around 25% of Nigeria's rice demands during a broadcast on Arise TV.&nbsp;

Adefeko called the situation "extremely horrible," saying that despite all of the precautions taken to limit the harm, climate change still exists.

“The entire team from the farm worked very hard to prevent the colossal damage that arose there from the dam broke the likes of the dam the dikes of the farm, and that affected us to a large extent we supply about 25 percent of Nigeria’s rice needs and that has been affected and have lost over $20 million,” he said.

“Of course, we are insured, But you can insure crops, you cannot replace crops. So, the crop has been insured, but you cannot be replaced. So you have to grow again. So we are talking about 4400 hectares of farmland gone submerged due to climate change. So it’s very serious.&nbsp;

“Well, like I spoke to the fact that climate change is real. There’s not much you can do about the fact that climate change is real. We’ll continue to do what we have to do. I think NiMET had warned about the impending floods, I am sure you will notice what happened in Kogi as well.&nbsp;

“When they say it rains. It’s not really raining, it’s pouring. So it’s terrible.”

Adefeko claims that Olam farm, which is situated in Nasarawa state's Rukubi Doma LGA, was inundated as a result of the River Benue overflowing its banks and rupturing the dyke.

“For example, we have been battling this water for the last two to three weeks. But finally, the water pressure from the dam took over and broke the dykes and multiple spots, which we couldn’t control. It was the burst from the seams of River Benue and River Niger. Two major rivers in Nigeria are very close to Benue,” he added.

Due to the floods ravaging many states in Nigeria, the whole 4,400 hectare rice farmland belonging to Olam Company in Nasarawa State is now underwater.

Recall that after the governorship primary election in the state, the federal high court judgment nullified the Peoples Democratic Party’s primary (PDP) that produced Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare as a candidate, while the ruling All Progress Congress (APC) demanded delisting of the opposition party and its 2023 governorship candidate as directed by the court.

However, for peace reign, the commissioner, who also serves as the Chief Imam of the Muslim Foundation Jummu’at mosque in Gusau, the state capital, urged the candidates to refrain from making inflammatory comments that could spark conflict.

Politicians, according to Sheikh Jangebe, should constantly put the needs of the people before their interests and ambitions to avoid creating a do-or-die situation.

Consequently, the general public is advised to avoid panic buying at fuel stations as the NMDPRA is working assiduously with relevant stakeholders and government agencies to ensure product availability across the country.”

In the same context, it urged oil marketers to stop stockpiling the commodity so as not to put Nigerians through hardship while promising to guarantee smooth distribution and supply of petroleum products across the country.

The NUT Chairman in the state,&nbsp;Rodney Nathan made the request while speaking on Wednesday, September 5, 2022 in Yola at the commemoration of the World Teachers’ Day.

He urged the adoption of elementary school teachers' promotion arrears and the payment of a professional allowance of 27.5% to all trained teachers.

The chairman emphasized the importance of expanding the five-year extension of service for teachers to include all teacher types.&nbsp;

“Teachers are determined to actualise government drive to transform the education sector,” he said.

Malam Bashir Ahmed, the Secretary to the State Government, spoke on behalf of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing teachers' welfare.&nbsp;

He claimed that his government had hired 2,000 instructors, built over 10,000 classrooms and staff housing units, and promoted thousands of teachers.

“We are transforming the education sector through the introduction of free education from primary to secondary school level, payment of WAEC and NECO examination fees to indigent students.

“We recorded 75 per cent credits including English and Mathematics in the just concluded Senior Secondary School Examination SSCE conducted by WAEC,” he added.

The governor gave the instructors the responsibility of returning the favor and devoting themselves to their work in order to attain academic success.&nbsp;

In order to improve the provision of high-quality education, the National Union of Teachers, NUT, in Adamawa has urged the state government to establish a N30,000 minimum pay for its members.

The decision was made by the assembly after Mr. Mohammed Haruna (APC), representing Bida II, raised a matter of public significance.&nbsp;

At the plenary on Tuesday, September 4, 2022 in Minna, he urged the government to act quickly to prevent a complete closure of the Minna-Bida road.&nbsp;

While reading the House's resolutions, Speaker Abdullahi Bawa instructed the Ministry of Works to repair the Minna-Bida road's alarming sections.

He also urged the executive district of the government to act quickly to prevent further collapse of the Minna-Bida road's remaining sections.&nbsp;

“The security and welfare of the people are stated to be the major goals of the government in Section 14, subsection 2 paragraph (b)”, said Mr. Haruna.

”The only road linking Minna to Bida has been cut off due to the failure of a portion of the road that was washed off as a result of heavy downpours.

”This development has brought hardship to road users as commuters were stranded with perishable goods being destroyed because of the cut-off of a portion of Minna-Bida.

”Patients on referrals to the Federal Medical Centre Bida are also stranded making their conditions worse,” he added.

He urged the state administration to urgently take the necessary action to save the remaining section of the route from Minna to Bida.&nbsp;

Despite the state Route Maintenance Agency's efforts, a part of the Minna-Bida road shut off on Saturday, leaving drivers and commuters stuck (NIGROMA).&nbsp;

The Minna-Kataeregi-Bida and other projects will be funded by a N25 billion loan from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), which was approved by the Niger House of Assembly in 2019.&nbsp;

The 86km Minna-Kataeregi-Bida road project was reduced from N25 billion to N17 billion so that Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company could handle dualization from 0 to 15 kilometers as state government counterpart finance, with IDB slated to manage the construction of the remaining 71km.

According to the loan arrangement, the IDB would pay for the remaining 71 km of the road, of which only 35 km have been constructed for a total cost of N11 billion. The state government would cover the first 15 km of the road, from Kpakugun to Garatu.

The Prime Times reports that Sadiq Wali's inclusion on the final list has also put an end to the issue over who is the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) legitimate candidate in the state.

Mohammed Abacha had claimed he was the genuine gubernatorial candidate of the party.

The party stated that there was no need for concern and that they were confident he would be on the ballot when the electoral umpire released the final list.&nbsp;

“There is nothing to lose sleep over”, he said as he urged supporters to maintain their composure. “We are certain we will make the final INEC list even though work is still being done on it.”&nbsp;

In a reaction, Engineer Bashir Ishaq Bashir of the Labour party said there was no cause for alarm, and expressed confidence that he would make it to the ballot by the time the electoral umpire published the final list.

Mr. Shaaban Ibrahim Sharada was listed as an ADP candidate for governor on the lists placed up at the INEC headquarters in Kano, whereas Aishatu Mahmud was listed as the lone NRM candidate for governor.&nbsp;

Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, an APC candidate for governor, and Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, a NNPP candidate, both made appearances alongside their running mates.

However, the Birnin-Gwari Emirate countered yesterday, claiming that its investigation had shown that the lynching had taken place after the suspects had stolen a motorcycle from a farmer outside of Birnin-main Gwari's town.

"Clearly, while the lynching of suspected bandits is highly condemnable, the Union observes with deep concern the way the issue has been reported to selectively and deliberately portray Birnin Gwari in the bad taste, and targeted to prove a false narrative on the issue to endanger the helpless innocent citizens of Birnin-Gwari Local Government," the union stated in a statement signed by BEPU Chairman Ishaq Usman Kasai.&nbsp;

“While we respect governments' commitment to looking into and prosecuting those responsible for this barbaric act, we also note that officials appear to have rushed through the release of the sensitive statement without carefully checking the identities of the "alleged herders" who were killed by a mob.

“The lynched "herders" were terrorist mercenaries from the Republic of Sudan, according to information that the BEPU has access to. Since international crime syndicates have been terrorizing Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area (ID cards attached), the allegedly lynched individuals are not herdsmen as had been wrongly stated earlier”.

Some hours after Nasir El-Rufai, Kaduna State Governor condemned the lynching of two persons declared to be herders in Birnin-Gwari council of the state, and also ordered an investigation to know the root of the attack, Birnin Gwari Emirate Development Union (BEPU) has claimed that the lynched persons were not herders, but terrorist mercenaries from Sudan.

The governor disclosed this on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the occasion of commemorating the 62nd anniversary of Nigeria's independence held in the state capital.&nbsp;

Tambuwal says his administration has consistently paid students' examination fees for the National Examination Council (NECO), West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and other fees over the years in addition to the money used to feed students in numerous schools throughout the state.&nbsp;

On the other hand, Tambuwal has mandated that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) branch at Sokoto State University resume work or risk losing their salaries.

The governor said that in addition to the enormous sums spent on exam fees and student meals intended to advance substantial human advancements, his administration had been paying beneficiaries' scholarships, salaries, and pension benefits on time.&nbsp;

Tambuwal further said that he had spoken with the management of the state scholarship board about the issue of the state-sponsored students who were previously studying in Ukraine before the civil war broke out and had given them the task of searching for universities in Turkey, Egypt, India, or even Nigeria where the displaced students can continue their education.&nbsp;

“We cannot allow you to stay out of school because that will affect your future negatively,” he added.

On the ongoing ASUU strike, the governor also questioned the Sokoto State University branch of the union on the legitimacy of its members receiving salaries while working in collusion with their federal counterparts during their protracted strike.&nbsp;

He urged them to change their minds and return to work, arguing that the problems brought up by ASUU branches in federal colleges were distinct from those that existed in state universities.&nbsp;

The governor, however, threatened to withhold their pay until they returned to the classroom if they did not come forward with any other problems.

He stressed that last month he stopped paying their salaries because he had been so generous in paying them more than five months' compensation while they were unemployed and urged the branch to begin work if they truly had the interest of the state and its students at heart.&nbsp;

Regarding the accomplishments of his administration thus far, the governor stated that he would rather be recognized for his contributions to the development of human capital rather than the numerous ongoing and completed construction projects, flyovers, and school building.
