Asa, Nigeria’s international celebrated Soul singer successfully held her return encore live in Lagos music concert on Saturday night, April 29, 2017 at the Eko Convention Centre.
Hosted by Beat FM senior broadcaster Olisa Adibua, the show’s opening acts began with The Voice Nigeria finalist singer Nonso Bassey.
Nonso Bassey alongside his guitarist performed a couple of love songs, showing just how talented he is on the vocals.
Tay Iwar, a multi-skilled music producer, singer and audio engineer slayed with his voice on songs he performed. Definitely made a good impression about his style.
Aramide the Baseline Music singer was breathtaking with her performance of Eledumare a song off her Suitcase album, as she also performed ‘Fun mi lowo’, the more uptempo song.
Lindsey Abudei, another amazing vocalist followed through performing songs ‘’Freedom and I’, ‘Drift away’ and John legend’s Ordinary people during a temporary technical glitch that saw the sound go off. She put up a good show.
Funbi was next up performing ‘Funbi fruit’ and ‘Hallelujah’, to the applause of fans.
Omolara who is credited for her songwriting prowess, writing some of the popular Nigerian songs including Timi Dakolo’s ‘Iyawo mi’, Praiz’s ‘Rich and famous’ among others came out on stage with her own songs ‘Be like yours’ among others - majorly love themed, and also rendered a beautiful cover of Alicia Keys’ ‘If I ain’t gat you’.
Then at about 9:45pm, the major act of the night Asa made her way to the stage in an all white dress, with the 30-piece orchestra and her band already in place.
Asa opens up with ‘Awe’ a love story off her debut album “Asa”, which was followed by ‘Satan be gone’, ‘Eyo’. The big screen captured funny moments where fans were simply ‘chopping mouth’ to the lyrics of Asa’s songs such as when ‘Eyo’ was being performed.
Asa gave the audience some insight into how she got her record deal, a touching and inspiring story about how she had to wait 10 hours before she was attended to at an event and given a slot to perform, which eventually impressed the record label that signed her up eventually.
That story led to the next song Bed of stone off her “Bed Of Stone” album, which also led to other sober conscious songs.
Other songs performed by the gifted singer include ‘Maybe’, ‘The one that never comes’, ‘Dead again’, ‘Preacher man’, Fire on the mountain, bibanke, Eye Adaba, So beautiful , Bimpe, Jailer, Be my man, Bamidele and ‘Why can’t we’(The happy song).
It was a worthy encore performance by Asa, as fans had a good time out with the Soul R&B singer and her entertaining performance.
