A N24.9 million e-library has been donated to the Sardauna Memorial College (SMC) Kaduna, by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
The Chief Executive Officer of NDIC, Umaru Ibrahim, while speaking at the formal commissioning of the library said sponsoring projects with direct influence on lives is part of its corporate social responsibility.
Ibrahim, who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Human Resources, Aminu Ahmed, said it is hoped that the library will enhance students’ knowledge in computer education.
We decided to move down to the secondary level because we discovered that university students are products of secondary school and the earlier they begin to use the e- library system the better for the country, especially now that the world has turned into a global village via internet," he said.
“I want to appeal to students, staffs and management of Sardauna Memorial College to protect this project so that it will not only benefit them but the future generation.”
The principal of the college, Rev. Samuel Haruna, thanked the NDIC for the library which he called the first of its kind in Kaduna state.
He called on individuals and organization to support the institution by helping it procure the 30 computers it needs.
