England football legend David Beckham has reacted to the news that Basketball veteran Kobe Bryant who will be retiring at the end of the current season.
The Los Angeles Lakers guard announced on Sunday, November 29 that he will retire at the end of the season.
"This season is all I have left to give,” Bryant wrote on The Players Tribune.
"My heart can take the pounding, my mind can handle the grind, but my body knows it’s time to say goodbye."
Tributes have been pouring in for the five-time champion and two-time NBA Finals MVP.
Beckham, who spent five years in Los Angeles with the MLS side LA Galaxy, took to Instagram to post a photo with the message "Heroes come and go, but legends are forever."
"There are many words that describe this man but for me the one that Kobe stands for is 'WINNER'," Beckham wrote.
"He has played the game with passion shown young kids the drive you need to become the best and given basketball fans mostly LAKERS fans the chance to watch a true winner ... Sad to see Kobe retiring at the end of the season but unfortunately all great things must come to an end ... Enjoy man."
Back in 2011, Beckham spoke about his love for Bryant on his Facebook page, admitting it was a privilege to watch him play from the floor.
