Ghana football has been hit by a big blow following the death of
Yakubu who died on Tuesday afternoon at the age of 36 is reported to have been under oxygen support at the Tema Government Hospital before giving up.

Yakubu, a former Ajax and Vitesse player played a key role in helping Ghana qualify for their first FIFA World Cup, but he failed to make the list for the finals in Germany.
He played for Ajax from 1999 to 2005 and Vitesse from 2005 to 2009.

Yakubu Abubakari who grew up in Tema in the Greater Accra region of Ghana had 16 caps for his country at the senior level.
