Your relationship is your life

Yes believe it,no relationship ever leaves you the same as there are always take-aways from them,no matter how little and they affect/influence our lives in diverse ways.

One day, I decided to take a walk round a quiet neighbourhood and was reminiscing on how I have come to become who I am and how far I have come.

It dawned on me that all my relationships both past and present contributed in one way or the other to where I am now and the person I have also become.

Yes believe it, no relationship ever leaves you the same as there are always take-aways from them no matter how little and they affect or influence our lives in diverse ways. It is important to be mindful of your inner circles or those you allow to come too close to you.

Those relationships will either make you or mar you; they will build your confidence or they will destroy it; they will cheer you or shame you; they will give to you or take away from you; they will advance you or leave you stagnant; they will be close to you or be distant from you. However your relationships appear to be, always realise that your relationships are key components of your life.

Relationship take-aways can make positive impact

I was going for a drive with a friend and as we got in the car, she said a simple prayer before she even ignited the engine and I was impressed as she did it effortlessly making it obvious that this has become part of her lifestyle. When I passed a remark, she said she learned it from an old friend of hers as she would always notice this friend do it every time she got in the car and it stuck with her…meanwhile she has not seen or even spoken to this friend in years as they lost contact when she moved to a different country.

Now this is one of her takeaway from that relationship which has positively impacted her own life. Meanwhile, her friend is not even aware of how she has impacted my friend’s life. It could be something different for you but relationships have impacts on us with or without us knowing. Some leave us as better persons while some can leave us more receptive to other people’s feelings.

Relationship take-aways can have negative impact

Some relationships that end in bitter blows or shocking experiences can destroy trust issues in someone’s life. Some who find it difficult trusting their partners of sort are mostly those who have experienced some issues in their past relationships that made them sceptical of everyone or specific relationships that they find themselves in.

When you find yourself in a relationship that is troubling, disappointing, damaging, and deceitful and I could name them on and on…these experiences never leave you the same.

The impact from such relationships find ways to creep into your life even as you have moved on and away from such. As you move on with your life, find ways to dust off these feelings as healthy living greatly depend on it. You can’t carry heavy baggage around and expect to live happily and healthily.

Some relationships are just toxic

There are relationships that are simply not good and should not be entered into. They are simply red zones and are highly poisonous. You will know it from the onset but for whatever reason, you still find yourself mixing with such circle. They are just not negative but dangerous to your living and possibly to those you care about.

Whether relationships are positive, negative or toxic, you should always remember that they are interlinked with your life. They can affect, influence or destroy it. Your relationships yield so much power that you can’t ignore that aspect of your life or toy with it. Be more careful with who you surround yourself with.

Always remember that the relationship you keep is the life you live.
