The Simon Ortom-led committee has resolved the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State..
Members of the committee and actors involved in the conflict came out of the meeting hall at midnight on Thursday, April 7, 2022, all smiles at the Benue State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.
Governor Obaseki flanked Governor Ortom alongside members of the committee, including Chief Dan Orbih (National Vice Chairman of PDP, South-South) briefed journalists on the decisions taken at the lengthy meeting.
Ortom said: “As you are aware, the National Executive Committee of our great party put us together to resolve the issues in Edo State; and successfully, by the grace of God, we have resolved all the issues and are going back to Edo State as one PDP. No more factions, no more disagreement. And by the grace of God, we are sure that it shall be well in Edo State”
Earlier, the PDP at its 95th NEC meeting on March 16, 2022, formed a three-member reconciliation committee to iron out issues in the Edo State chapter of the party.
Governor Ortom was appointed chairman, while Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state, and Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state, were appointed members.
Other members present at the reconciliation meeting included the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shuaibu, Senators and members of the House of Representatives from Edo State, as well as the Edo State PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi
