Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has unveiled another statue, three weeks after handing out one to South African President Jacob Zuma--who arrived Owerri, warts and all.

This time, the honours belonged to Liberian President, Mrs Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.

“The statue of the African female hero, the Liberian President Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf unveiled in Imo State”, the Governor announced with immense pride.

You could have heard him from Okitipupa in Ondo State.

The recipient of the latest statue was gushing with palpable gratitude and excitement as well.

"I have travelled to every part of the world and I have travelled all over Africa, I have never experienced something like this. I have seen leaders of Africa build schools, roads, give scholarships, and so on, in all of these things....

"I have not seen any of them go beyond the ordinary by gathering indigent children of Africa from all of our countries, bring them together in our family, sharing together, I thank you. There is no other better way to fight poverty and preach unity than this”, said Johnson Sirleaf.

There are also statues of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, among others, dotting the Imo skyline.

Bronze statues. Imposing. Standing at magnificent feet and staring down on the rest of mankind like they should.

Imo is now the statue State.

No one does statues quite like Okorocha these days and he should be encouraged to erect some more for the good of humanity. For mankind.

If we can't feed in Africa, at least we should gaze at statues until we receive nourishment from them.

We are done fighting Okorocha on his right to flood Imo with statues—whether for deserving recipients or not. We are doomed to lose, anyway.

We should throw our collective weight behind the Governor of statues.

And since a statue never hurt anyone and there is a statue for everyone who visits Imo right now, it’s time to pack the bags and head for Okorocha’s country.

Don’t even dull.
