As pocket-friendly as the $40k Mercedes-Benz GLC is, some of us simply need more room.

Luckily, Mercedes has bigger vehicles that match the style, luxury and comfort of the GLC — but you’re going to have to pay a little more. Next on the German auto giant's product  line is the GLE, which is new for 2016.

The GLE is the replacement for the popular M-Class although the two share most of their internals and even some body panels. However, unlike the previous M-Class, the GLE can be ordered as either a regular SUV or as a ‘coupe-like’ SUV.

For the 'coupe-like' version, both the ride height and roofline have been lowered to create a more dynamic appearance.

For you to get behind the wheel of the 2016 GLE a minimum $52,025 will have to drop from you bank account. This is for a base GLE350 model, which comes with rear-wheel drive and a V-6 engine good for 302 horsepower.

4Matic all-wheel drive is a $2,500 option. All other GLE versions come standard with all-wheel drive. They include a GLE300d ($53,425), GLE400 ($65,525), GLE63 ($100,875) and a GLE63S ($108,025). The GLE63 S carries a beefy V-8 engine with 577 hp on tap.
