Brad Paisley's ABC special Brad Paisley Thinks He's Special airs tonight on ABC, and while you're tuning in, you might be wondering...wait, who is Brad Paisley's wife again?
Well, Brad and his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley , have a love story that's the stuff of country songsliterally. Back when he was a 19-year-old aspiring musician in West Virginia, he saw the Steve Martin comedy Father of the Bride with an ex-girlfriend, who later left him for his best friend. Kimberly is perhaps best known for playing Annie Banks, Steve Martin's movie daughter and the titular bride.
After he and his ex broke up, Brad went to see Father of the Bride II alone. "I thought, she seems like a great girlsmart and funny and all those things that are so hard to find," he told Good Housekeeping . He never forgot Annie Banks, and even wrote a song about going to see Father of the Bride on his album Part II, released in 2001. When it came time to cast the music video for the song "I'm Gonna Miss Her," he reached out to Kimberly and asked if she'd be in it. (Kimberly joked about their meet-cute in an interview with Meredith Viera , saying, "My husband's a stalker!")
"It felt natural to ask her to be in it," he told Good Housekeeping . "Even though I didn't know if she was married, divorced or just out of rehab."
Once the two connected, it didn't take long for them to start dating.
"He woke up one morning and decided he wanted to call me, so I said alright because I'm a sucker for someone who's interested, and we started dating and pretty soon after that, we were engaged," Kimberly told Meredith Viera .
After a nine-month engagement, they were married on March 15, 2003. In 2007, they welcomed their first son William "Huck" Huckleberry, and in 2009, they welcomed their second son, Jasper Warren.
"I have more to write about now," Brad told Good Housekeeping . "Before, I had nothing to write about but failed relationships and life on the road. Now, I feel emotions more deeply in every sense."
