As the summer travel season sets in, South Korean tourism will be suffering a huge blow as the Korean Tourism Organization has said that about 25,000 people cancelled trips to South Korea between June 5 and June 7.
This is coming on the heels of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) outbreak which has so far claimed 6 lives, all in the country.
The outbreak reportedly traces its origin to a businessman who fell ill upon his return from a business trip in Saudi Arabia.
Over 2,300 people have been placed under quarantine and nearly 1,900 schools have been closed.
South Korean capital, Seoul made the 2015 list of most popular cities for travellers in 2015, however with the MERS outbreak, there is little doubt that the South Korean tourism industry will be dealt a huge blow.
