For the 2nd edition of the Do It Afraid Conference, Omilola Osikoya, and panellists including Adebola Williams and Iretiola Doyle spoke on "The Flourishing Palm Tree and its Process" at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, Victoria Island.
Omilola Osikoya is a life and wealth coach and head of Omilola Osikoya International and the Do It Afraid team, who are hosts of the annual conference.
This edition which held at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island was designed to give the courage to fulfil dreams as well as provide encouragement for the process through real-life examples of successful people.
Deji Alli, a past CEO of ARM, now Chairman of Mixta SA, speaking on his greatest challenge shared the difficulties that came with a management buyout. He added that “(In overcoming challenges)... take advantage of the people around you; give them a voice”.
In a panel moderated by Taiwo Oniru-Akintokun that had veteran actress, Iretiola Doyle; entrepreneur Adebola Williams; retail specialist and CEO, Nakenhos, Wunmi Williams and Head Chef of Salt Lagos, Modupe Fagbohungbe, the topic of discourse was how the panellists managed to do it afraid in the course of their careers and lives.
Most notably, Debola Williams advised the participants to appreciate the sacrifice in giving, more so where there is no reward, adding, “I learned that, (in pursuit of your goals)... you have to give of yourself, you have to get experience to be elevated”.
His understanding of this, he shared, was the secret of the overwhelming success of the Future Awards in its infancy; those who he had served saw it fit to render some service in return.
There was still time for renowned life coach, Fela Durotoye to deliver a typically passionate talk on the theme of the event.
Taking the audience through the process that ends in making courageous decisions, he advised them to remember their first steps and to look back at the things they did afraid and draw courage from them.
The organizers of the conference, the Do It Afraid team have expressed their intention to hold future editions of the event as they strive to spread wealth and empowerment.
