The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of the richest countries in the Middle East with the economy still remaining strong even with the falling oil prices. But the country has its own fair share of problems. Like most countries with high cost of living, there is a problem of the poor not being able to afford. One other strange problem is the high rate of abandonment of high end cars at Dubai airport parking lots.
But there's a reason, which is not as complicated as you might think.
The Sharia Law system.
In the UAE, the Sharia law is implemented.
Many people take loans to buy cars for show off (a lot of the time). When they can no longer afford to pay back the loans, they abandon their cars and run away.
Due to absence of protection on bankruptcy, failure to pay credit cards, pay back loans, even as little as a bounced check can, can you earn you prison time.
These cars are sold at auctions very cheap prices by the Police.
