Prior to the last international break, coach Gernot Rohr, called up team captain Ahmed Musa, deputy captain William Ekong and 21 others for Super Eagles’ FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 double qualifying encounters against the Central African Republic, but only few out of these players posted worthy performances for their club sides last weekend.

Below is the top five best performing Super Eagles players abroad for the weekend.

1. Chidera Ejuke (CSKA Moscow)

Ejuke continues with his impeccable form that earned him a place, in Rohr’s 23-man list for the last Super Eagles assignment, with another five star performance in the Russian League last weekend.

The 23-year-old left winger who won his team’s player of the month award for September, started off the month of October with a bang, as he helped the Army Men beat FC Ural away from home, after scoring the only goal of the match.

2. Victor Osimhen (Napoli)

Unarguably, Osimhen is the hottest African striker at the moment in top European leagues. The Super Eagles striker has once again justify that he worth the €70.00m deal.

Just like Ejuke who got his team’s only goal in the Russia top league, Victor ensured the Gli Azurri get all three points against Torino, in matchday eight fixture of the ongoing Serie A season, at the Stadio San Paolo, scoring his side’s only goal of the encounter in the 81st minute.

Napoli returns to the Serie A summit, courtesy of Osimhen’s fifth league goal in seven games this season with two points gap.

3. Taiwo Awoniyi (Union Berlin)

Since he completed his €6.50m move to Union Berlin from Liverpool this season, Awoniyi has been an instant hit for the German Bundesliga side, with top notch performances week in week out.

The 24-year-old who made his debut for Super Eagles earlier this month, in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Central Africa Republic in Lagos, was able to hand his team an important home win, after netting his team’s only goal against VFL Wolfsburg.

Taiwo has now scored six goals in the German Bundesliga this season from eight appearances.

4. Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City)

The Foxes produced what may turnout to be their best performance of the season, after they claimed another victory in the English Premier League in a six-goal thriller, with Iheanacho contributing his quota as usual to the team’s brilliant outing, against Manchester United.

The 25-year-old Super Eagles player was exceptional for Leicester City as they ended

United's English league record of 29-game unbeaten run away from home, after a 4-2 win with Kelechi providing the assist that led to his team’s first goal scored by Youri Tielemans.

5. Ahmed Musa (Fatih Karagumruk)

Ahmed Musa made his eighth appearance for Fatih Karagumruk on Sunday as they claimed a decent away victory against Altay in matchday nine of the Turkish SuperLiga.

Musa who was replaced by Fabio Borini in the 64th minute of the game gave good account of himself from his midfield position and played an important role in his side’s 1-0 win.
