Edouard Mendy

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will be manning the post for Senegal in Qatar as they begin their World Cup campaign in Group A.

This would be a first-ever World Cup tournament for the 30-year-old goalkeeper who came into the limelight within the last two years.

Mendy has become one of the best goalkeepers in the world since joining Chelsea and has played 11 games so far heading into the tournament.

Kalidou Koulibaly

Another Senegalese Chelsea player, Kalidou Koulibaly will be gunning for glory and leading the Teranga Lions from the back in Qatar.

The 31-year-old centre-back has played 14 games for Chelsea and scored a goal, he heads to Qatar as one of Senegal’s key players.

Koulibaly is Senegal’s captain and is expected to be a central figure for Aliou Cisse’s team on their quest to bring glory to Africa.

Hakim Ziyech

Another Chelsea star, Hakim Ziyech has not had a good time at club level this season but he will represent Morocco at the World Cup.

Ziyech’s inclusion in the squad came as a surprise as he had retired from international duty earlier this year and swore to never play for Morocco again.

But since Vahid Halilhodzic got sacked Walid Regragui has assumed the mantle of leading Morocco and reintegrated the star attacker into the contingent heading to Qatar.

Thomas Partey

Thomas Partey has ascended to the level as one of the best midfielders in the world and Ghana would be hoping he carries that form to Qatar.

The 29-year-old has been immense for Arsenal so far this season, playing 15 games and contributing two goals.

Partey is the heartbeat of the Ghanaian national team as he is for Arsenal and is set to be one of the stars of the World Cup in Qatar.

Bryan Mbuemo

Brentford winger, Bryan Mbuemo only recently switched his nationality from France to Cameroon and has played twice for the Teranga Lions since debuting in September 2022.

The 23-year-old has scored three goals and assisted once in 16 games for Brentford this season where he’s formed a good partnership with Ivan Toney.

His pace and trickery would be an asset for Cameroon as they hope to navigate a difficult group against Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia.
