Super Falcons of Nigeria defender Ashleigh Plumptre has been nominated for the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Women's Super League (WSL) Fans’ Player of the Month award for February.
The 23-year-old defender was included in a list of six nominees announced on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
Plumptre is nominated along with Leicester teammate Jemma Purfield and Tottenham's Ashleigh Neville.
Other nominees include Chelsea stars Jess Carter, Millie Bright, and Manchester City's Alex Greenwood.
In the month of February, Plumptre made two appearances for Leicester City. She helped Leicester City win both games in February with solid performances.
In the two games, she contributed one goal and helped keep one clean sheet.
Plumptre's goal for Leicester City came in the 3-0 victory against West Ham that helped them move above Everton at the time.
The 2-1 victory against Birmingham was her second appearance where she was solid at the back.
After both games, she departed to join the Super Falcons of Nigeria ahead of their 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifier against the Lady Elephants of Ivory Coast.
At the MKO Abiola Stadium on Friday, February 18, 2022, the Super Falcons recorded a 2-0 victory against Ivory Coast.
She later featured as the Super Falcon recorded a 1-0 away victory against Ivory Coast to book the AWCON ticket in Abidjan on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
Plumptre took to her Instagram account to share her thoughts on playing in Nigeria.
She said, "An international debut but more importantly, an opportunity to be amongst a group of people, players and fans who bring culture, expression and togetherness to life.
"A chance to learn from people I never would’ve met if it wasn’t for football.
"A chance to see the happiness it can bring to people by being a part of something bigger than just myself. A chance to shine light on my purpose in this sport.
"I don’t just play because I enjoy the sport. I have to play for more. I may have good games, I may have poor games.
"We celebrate successes but don’t celebrate the intent we have in pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zones.
"Whatever the outcome, rewards are reaped in going beyond what we thought we were capable of.

This is not the first accolade Plumptre has been nominated for in February. She was also included in the nominees for the (WSL) Player of the Month award.
