The 31-year-old moves to Bolton until the end of the 2017/18 season after a successful trial with the club, which is subject to international clearance.
Bolton announced the move of the former Super Eagles forward by the clubs official Twitter handle, with a message which said, "Bolton Wanderers are pleased to confirm the signing of Chinedu Obasi on a short-term deal until the end of the season, subject to international clearance."
Obasi seals the move after compatriot Victor Anichebe.
He is expected to replace forward Gary Madine who left for Cardiff City in the winter transfer window.
Obasi joins compatriot Sammy Ameobi.
He was part of the 2005 Flying Eagles alongside Shanghai Shenxin's John Owoeri and current Super Eagles captain , that won the silver medal at the 2005 under 20 FIFA World Youth Championships.
Obasi was also part of the under 23 football team that won the silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
He made a total of 20 appearances for the Super Eagles and contributed four goals, Obasi arrives Bolton with experience from several sides such as Lyn, Hoffenheim, Schalke , AIK and Shenzhen.
Obasi could make his debut for Bolton in their next league fixture away to Reading on Tuesday, March 6.
