From Europe, Tinubu sends Easter message to Nigerians; vows to crush insecurity and rebuild economy

​​President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace hope, unity, and resilience this Easter season, even as the country navigates economic and security challenges.

Tinubu described the Easter season as one of deep reflection and renewal in a message issued from Europe, where he is on a working visit. 

His statement, signed by the State House and made public on Good Friday, emphasized Easter's powerful Christian symbolism of sacrifice, redemption, love, and hope.

“Easter, which commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, is a time to reflect on our shared values and recommit to building a better, more inclusive Nigeria,” the President stated.

Addressing the nation’s insecurity woes, Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the recent wave of violence that claimed lives in several parts of the country. He assured Nigerians that his administration is not standing idle.

“I have given clear orders to our Armed Forces and all security agencies — we must act decisively. The forces of evil will never triumph over Nigeria,” he said firmly.

On the economic front, Tinubu acknowledged the ongoing hardship many citizens face but said there are early signs of recovery. He emphasized that his government’s reform efforts are beginning to restore investor confidence and will pave the way for long-term growth.

The President also extended heartfelt greetings to Pope Francis, thanking God for the pontiff’s recovery and praying for his continued leadership.

“As we mark this season of renewal, may Easter’s message fill our hearts with fresh hope,” Tinubu said. “Though things may seem difficult now, a brighter day is on the horizon.”

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after Easter Sunday.
