At least nine dead after truck ploughs into Berlin market

Berlin police announced in a tweet that several people had also been injured in the attack.

A truck crashed into a Christmas market in Berlin on Monday, killing at least nine people and injuring several more, police said.

"There have been at least nine deaths," a police spokesman told AFP.

Berlin police tweeted that several people had also been injured when the vehicle veered onto the pavement of the market in a central square popular with tourists.
