Enter Lammily, the fashion doll with the tagline "Average Is Beautiful."
Last year, graphic designer Nickolay Lamm rendered a 3-D model of "Normal Barbie" using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's measurements of the average 19-year-old American woman. The images got everyone talking (in a good way).
Now, Lamm has launched a crowd-funding project to make a proportional doll available to consumers. As we went to print, backers had already donated $144,453, with 29 days left (the fund raising goal was only $95,000).
