Gabourey Sidibe is speaking about her weight loss surgery after almost a year of getting it done.

The actress who spoke to People Magazine opened up about her Diabetes diagnosis giving her just the nudge she needed to tend to her weight problem by undergoing a laparoscopic bariatric surgery.

She stated getting a weight loss surgery done wasn't chosen as a way out but one she decided to go for because of the quality of life it would offer her afterwards.

Opening up about the surgery she got done in May 2016 for the first time, she told People; "I just didn’t want to worry, I truly didn’t want to worry about all the effects that go along with diabetes. I genuinely [would] worry all the time about losing my toes.”

The 33 year old actress revealed in a soon to be released memoir about her battle with depression, anxiety and more while revealing a list of things she couldn't do because of her weight.

"I want not to be in pain every time I walk up a flight of stairs" the actress reveals. She currently works with a nutritionist and trainer and also rides tricycle now on the set of 'Empire' to keep her weight goal in check.

My surgeon said they’d cut my stomach in half. This would limit my hunger and capacity to eat. My brain chemistry would change and I’d want to eat healthier. I’ll take it!” she writes in her upcoming memoir revealed to People Magazine.
