Scientists have discovered that our bodies weren't made to sit while eliminating waste. According to their research, we would be better off squatting. In fact, sitting down on the toilet could actually do you more harm than good.
According to science, most of us have been pooping wrong our whole lives. Microbiologist and enthusiastic expert on all things gut and poo-related, Giulia Enders spoke with The Guardian U.K in an interview.
The German microbiologist said: "[The] 1.2 billion people around the world who squat have almost no incidence of diverticulosis and fewer problems with piles."
Enders added that squatting puts less pressure on our bottoms than standing or sitting.
So what is the correct way to poo? It’s none other than the frightfully undignified squat. Yes, we must admit that China, whose public restrooms offer holes in the ground in place of real toilets, was actually doing it the right way.
Pooping is the great equalizer. It doesn't matter what you say, its time we start doing it right.
