Rafael Mantesso had his world come crashing around him when his wife left him on his 30th birthday taking everything they had with her, except their dog.
Rafael Mantesso had his world come crashing around him when his wife left him on his 30th birthday taking everything they had with her, except their dog.
From the furniture, the kitchenware, all the photos and the pictures, she did not spare a thing and in a bid to forget the worst day of his life, Mantesso decided to make something beautiful of it, albeit unintentionally.
The couple's bull terrier named, Jimmy Choo after the famous shoe designer, became a source of inspiration and motivation, stirring Mantesso's long dormant inspiration; art.
Making Jimmy Choo his partner, Mantesso began making beautiful illustrations using the bare walls of his home as canvas.
After a couple of photographs taking of his creations, Mantesso started to draw attention to himself with his unique works.
Not only did Mantesso garner the interest of everyone who set eyes on the photos, Sandra Choi, Jimmy Choo's Creative Director, also fell under Jimmy's (dog) spell.
Choi finally approached Mantesso, commissioning him to create a series of illustrations to be used in decorating a selection of Jimmy Choo accessories.
When one door seemingly shut in Mantesso's face, another was thrown wide open.
