A harrowing video which shows the final moments of drug-fuelled friends who were killed in a high-speed crash has been released as a warning to others.

The footage filmed from inside the car shows driver Kyle Careford, 20, and his friend father-of-one Michael Owen, 21 speeding through the countryside at up to 90mph.

The clip shows the pair - who were high on a cocktail of drugs - egging each other on before Michael was heard saying 'you're doing 90 boy, slow down'.

Micheal appears to be navigating his friend - repeatedly shouting out "slow down, slow down" and "come on, come on".

As they drive along a residential street , Michael appears to be concerned at the speed, shouting: "Slow down Bruv, we are doing 90".

Tragically, seconds later the camera goes dark and the sounds of the crash can be heard in the quiet village of Rotherfield in East Sussex.

The car smashed into a church's stone wall and rolled over a number of times. The muffled sound of a woman shouting "can you hear me" and "is anyone alive" can then be heard.

Both men - from Tunbridge Wells in Kent - were declared dead at the scene. Their families have now released this heartbreaking footage in a warning to other young drivers.

Speaking after the inquest, Michael's mother Kat said: "We bring our children up teaching them right from wrong. We guide them and give them our advice and hope they listen, but once they are adults we hope they make the right choices.

"I really don't know why the boys chose to do what they did, but I blame them both for the decisions they made on this night.

His mother Kat, who hopes the video will stop others making the same mistake added that "If all this stops one person from making the same mistake, then some good has come from showing this video. I'm hoping it will have an impact on young people and make them see that a bit of fun can have such devastating consequences."

A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service added: "We attended the scene and the car was on its roof. There were two young males trapped inside who were declared dead at the scene.

"We had to use cutting gear to get them out but they were already dead."
