Meet baby born with 15 fingers, 16 toes

Meet the 8-month-old baby born with strange disorder, Polydactyly, giving him 31 digits without thumbs.

The eight-month-old's situation is clearly hereditary as his mother also has an extra finger on each of her hands.

Born to migrant workers in the village of  Zhongping in China's southern Hunan province, the baby is now set to undergo a series of corrective surgeries to correct the deformity.

After the discovery of the baby's plight, the sixth best hospital of Ningbo City has offered reduced medical costs estimated at $58,000 for the surgeries which will be done in three stages, the China Daily reports.

According to Dr Xu Jihai, the operations will involve cutting off the extra digits and in the long run, reshaping his remaining digits.

The hospital also promised follow-up treatments for him for the next 16 years as he grows up.
