The Chairman and Founder of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia, has revealed his opinion on the cause of traffic congestions.
Chairman, Zenith Bank says traffic is caused by too many roundabouts
The Chairman and Founder of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia, is attributing traffic congestions to the presence of too many roundabouts on roads.
According to him, the presence of too many roundabouts is a major reason for gridlocks in Lagos and other Nigerian cities.
Speaking at the Fine and Country’s Refined Investor Series last week, he said some of these roundabouts were unnecessary, hence, the congestions.
Looks like Mr Ovia might be right as it has been discovered that there are nine obsolete roundabouts from Victoria Island to Ajah, which explains the constant traffic along Lekki-Epe expressway.
Considering the fact that the distance from VI to Ajah is just 21 kilometres, these roundabouts definitely seem unnecessary.
A Mr. Funmi Osifuye from the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, has responded to this by revealing the government's plan.
According to him, the state government plans to expand Lekki expressway, construct a light rail project, build a fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh bridge along the Ikorodu road.
Do you think traffic in Lagos state is caused by too many roundabouts?
