According to him, the presidency has approved of October 1, 2016 as the new date for the implementation and enforcement of the use of SLDs.

Now, the FRSC Auchi Unit Commander, Mr Moses Bature, has advised commercial drivers, who are the only ones affected, to comply with this new date.

Speaking at a stakeholders meeting in the headquarters of Etsako, West Local Government Area of Edo, the commander said the device would reduce accidents.

"I advise you people to get the device installed in your vehicles as the Oct. 1 deadline for the commencement of the implementation of the policy remains unchanged.

The general attitude of drivers and fleet operators themselves to speed management has prompted the corps to make speed limiting device in transport vehicles mandatory.

Those who engage in this practice should have a rethink because continued incidents of road crashes occasioned by excessive speed necessitated the commission introducing the device", he added.

Bature also said that the failure to install this device would lead to arrests and prosecutions.
