The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) is revealing the number of arrests by the agency.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), 200 mobile courts have been set up to handle these arrests.
A statement from the agency revealed that 783 of them were convicted, while 95 were discharged.
Their offences included mechanical deficiency, drivers’ licence violation, and more.
They were arrested during a special patrol exercise organised by the Ota Unit Command, FRSC.
According to Leye Adegboyega, the Unit Commander said the arrest and exercise, tagged “End-of-Year Operation Sanity Special Patrol,” was part of the agency's plan to reduce and eventually put an end to road crashes.
