"I wish to appeal to the women to always encourage members of their families to obey traffic rules and regulations”

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi, is encouraging women to enforce a road safety mentality in their homes.

Traffic rules

While addressing participants of the FRSC Monthly walking/jogging exercise, held at the National Stadium Abuja, Oyeyemi said the woman's role is very essential to the FRSC's road safety campaign.

“Let me commend the womenfolk for their enormous sacrifice to the stability of the families. As we join them in observing this year’s International Women’s Day, I wish to appeal to the women to always encourage members of their families to obey traffic rules and regulations.

We in the FRSC are confident that if women deploy their enormous influence on the family to encourage their husbands, children and wards to obey traffic rules and regulations whenever they are travelling, our campaign for safer road environment would have been accomplished," he said.

Oyeyemi also gave directions on how to achieve this.

Accordingly, I enjoin you to ensure that whenever you travel with your family, make sure your children are properly fastened with seatbelt at the backseat. You must also ensure that the driver does not violate the speed limits or fail to wear his seatbelt with the passengers at the front and backseat," he stated.
