Here are the 17 most searched topics on Google in 2015:

Paris Under Attack.

Terror in the heart of Europe: On Friday, November 13, a theater, stadium, restaurant and cafe were attacked by terrorists, and the world desperately tried to find out if loved ones were safe and what had happened in the city of light. These coordinated attacks were the deadliest on French soil since World War II.

Oscars 2015.

The 87 Academy Award: Hollywood's biggest event of the year continues to bring millions of searches to Google about winners, nominees and attendees. This year, Best Picture went to Birdman, Best Actor went to Eddie Redmayne and Best Actress went to Julianne Moore.

Cricket World Cup.

The 11th Cricket World Cup jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand: It was the tournament that had everything: big personalities, exciting matches and a dramatic final. With this World Cup,  cricket became one of the most searched sports in the world.

Rugby World Cup.

20 teams slug it out for victory: Starting in September, 20 of the world's best Rugby Union teams competed for the cup in the tournament, in one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

Star Wars.

The attest installment: With a release date of Dec. 18 and months of anticipation, the trailers for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens prompted a worldwide response of excitement and suspense leading up to the film.

Death of an icon: Cecil the lion lived in Zimbabwe and was both an attraction in the area and being studied and tracked by the University of Oxford. A recreational hunter shot and killed Cecil on July 1, 2015, drawing international media attention. People turned to Google search to ask questions about lion hunting and the death of Cecil.

Migrant crisis.

A human tragedy: While countries like Germany and Greece received the most refugees, the US, UK and other countries saw an increase in search interest in the migrant crisis.

Iran nuclear deal.

An agreement reached: Searches for the Iran Nuclear Program spiked in July when a joint comprehensive plan of action was agreed upon based on the April framework.
