This year, Pulse Nigeria will be hosting a panel session at Social Media Week Lagos themed "The Rise Of Podcasts: The New FM". The event will focus on podcasting as a new form of digital journalism and storytelling. Register for this event here.
Podcasts have steadily been on the rise in Nigeria since mid-last year. They can be streamed live (usually free of charge) via any device that can connect to the internet and you don't even have to stop what you're doing to listen.
Pulse Nigeria has been focused on reporting and publishing content via various formats including text, video and imagery. In the second half of 2016, the news agency added a new format - podcasts.
The brand has been able to develop multiple podcasts in niche categories such as pop culture, sports, politics, and lifestyle. It is steadily increasing its foothold on the podcast space via two of its more popular podcasts "Loose Talk" and "My Africa Podcast."
At Social Media Week 2017, the panel to discuss this new, interesting form of narrative storytelling and reporting will include Andre Blaze, Host of My Africa Podcast; Princess Abumere, Producer of the Loose Talk Podcast and Deputy Editor-In-Chief at Pulse Nigeria; and Osagie Alonge, Editor-In-Chief at Pulse Nigeria and co-host of the Loose Talk Podcast. Beat 99.9FM's Dami Elebe will moderate.
The event will hold on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the Social Media Week Lagos Innovation Stage (capacity 300), Landmark Events Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos from 4:30-5:30PM.
