Live streaming notifications are about to get even more plentiful. Mobile live streaming is now available for anyone with over 10,000 subscribers on YouTube.

The mobile live streaming has been built directly into the YouTube mobile app and all you have to do is open the app and hit the capture button.
The feature has been in testing since June 2016 and is now available worldwide. According to YouTube, “It’s a launch that’ll put the power of live streaming in the hands of hundreds of thousands of talented creators, giving them a more intimate and spontaneous way to share their thoughts, lives, and creativity.”
I am not particularly fond of the democratisation of live streaming offerings across various platforms and I'm sure I'm not the only one tired of seeing live notifications from Mz Pwetiecutie on Facebook and @iammhayreeham on Instagram (because Nigerians know how to ruin everything).
That probably doesn't matter very much to YouTube, who is looking to compete with Facebook, Instagram and all the other platforms competing for video time with consumers.
The mobile live streaming has been built directly into the YouTube mobile app and all you have to do is open the app and hit the capture button. Streamed videos will have the same features as regular videos.
YouTube has also launched a feature called Super Chat, which is supposed to provide content creators a way to monetize their live videos.
The tool lets anyone watching a live stream get a creators attention by letting them 'purchase' chat 'spaces' which are highlighted in bright colors and can stay pinned to the top of the chat window for up to five hours.
Think of it as paying for a front-row seat in a digital theatre of sorts. The tool will be available to creators in over 20 countries and viewers in over 40 countries.
Word on the 'streets' is that Google is looking to push a lot of YouTube content/offerings in 2017 and this (mobile live streaming and Super Chat) may be part of that push. We'll see how this helps YouTube withstand the competition from Facebook and other platforms that offer live streaming features.
In the meantime, Ugolee and SisiYemmie just went live. [Don't] Click here to watch before it ends.
