Uber, TechCabal to hold competition for Nigerian developers

There are not very many competitions for Nigerian developers to showcase themselves, but Uber Lagos and TechCabal are giving developers an opportunity to do just that.

Uber.

Uber is determinedly expanding its African reach. In its latest effort,  the famed tech company has teamed up with tech website Techcabal.com to encourage Nigerian developers to enable real world applications from their apps to leverage its API.

Uber launched its API last year and has added support that enables third-party developers to be in 'the driver’s seat, giving them the power to hit Uber’s API to request rides and dispatch driver-partners in the real world' explains Ebi Atawodi, General Manager for Uber Lagos.

To further encourage developers, Uber is presently running a virtual hackathon and anyone from anywhere can participate. As for the Nigerian version, Uber’s aim, in conjunction with Techcabal, is to encourage Nigerian developers and also showcase the best Nigeria-relevant implementations via the hackathon event in Lagos.

Apart from the amazing cash and perk prizes for the top winners at the global level, the top three Nigerian apps that are built based on the Uber API at the event will get:
