Service will shut down on August 1st

Google has confirmed that Google+ Photos is shutting down on August 1st, and users should make a switch to the separate Google Photos app.

The new Google Photos app is available across all platforms.

Google launched the separate Google Photos app for Android some months ago. And this means that Google is going to kill the Google+ Photos services integrated within Google+.

Reports reveal that Google has confirmed that Google+ Photos is shutting down on August 1st, and users should make a switch to the separate Google Photos app introduced a few months back.

“In an effort to ensure everyone has the best photos experience we can deliver, on August 1st we’ll start to shut down Google+ Photos — initially on Android, and soon thereafter on the Web and iOS,” Google said in a post on Google+.

According to sources, the shutdown will take place in phases. The first one to kick the bucket is the Android version, followed by Web and iOS in the coming months. Google has requested the users to make a switch to Google Photos app, which isn’t too different and offers more features, such as “backup, edit, and share your photos and videos, with unlimited storage, automatic organization, and more.”

All you have to do is head over to the Google Play store and download the Google Photos app. After installing it, you’ll find all your saved photos there — it’s that simple.
