The cheapest smartphone in the world is launching today in India

A small India-based company, Ringing Bells, is launching the cheapest smartphone to have ever gone on sale today.

The Freedom 251 is the cheapest smartphone in the world at 251 Rupees which is approximately $4

There are cheap phones and there are CHEAP phones. However, there are no cheap phones like this device I am about to share with you in the entire world, literally.

A small India-based company, Ringing Bells, is launching the cheapest smartphone to have ever gone on sale today. It is called the Freedom 251 and priced just under $4. I know, that was my reaction too.

It has a 4" display, 1.3 GHz Quadcore processor, 3.2MP AutoFocus rear camera, .3MP front camera, inbuilt touchless technology, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, and SD card support of up to 32GB. All for $4 pere.

The Freedom 251's 1450mAh battery is not much to work with, but you really can't expect  that much from a $4, right? Come on.

Android Lollipop 5.1 powers the whole thing out-of-the-box, and you get pre-installed apps - which the company says will be useful for "farmers" and "fishermen" - along with the regular Facebook, YouTube, GooglePlay, and WhatsApp gang.

The company says the phone was developed with the support of the Indian governments 'Make in India' campaign that is aimed at encouraging local manufacturing. Somebody make sure Sai Baba is taking notes.
