Mark Zuckerberg is going to war with 'Revenge Porn'

Mark Zuckerberg has announced the new ways Facebook and Instagram are going to fight revenge porn.

Basically, Mark is going to war with your disgruntled ex and his demented friends. Now, let's say you were in a relationship with him. And then you broke up with him. He then takes intimate photos you shared with him, and shares it with everyone, hoping to humiliate you.

This is called revenge porn.

What triggered this?

In March, it was revealed that male veterans and marines on active duty, shared photos of thousands of women on Facebook. This led to a congressional hearing on the issue and a Defense Department investigation.

Now, Mark is joining the war from the Facebook end of things. His declaration of war read:

"We're focused on building a community that keeps people safe. That means building technology and AI tools to prevent harm.

Today we're rolling out new tools to prevent "revenge porn" from being shared on Facebook, Messenger and Instagram.

Revenge porn is any intimate photo shared without permission. It's wrong, it's hurtful, and if you report it to us, we will now use AI and image recognition to prevent it from being shared across all of our platforms."

What I found particularly interesting was a comment by a Jesse Falick, where she said;

"I would you consider licensing this technology in the future, especially as it improves? I would personally be in favor of this being implemented at the browser or even ISP level. I believe the Internet should be open and free but to a point. Revenge and child porn are where I draw a firm line. I would love to see these media eradicated completely through creative use of AI. I'm especially sensitive to this issue now that I have a daughter, as I'm sure you are."

Mark Zuckerberg thinks this is brilliant and said they'll consider making this available for the wider Internet in the future.
